Having recognized the contribution made by Dr. Belani to the cause of the seafarers early in his professional career, the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), Ministry of Shipping and Transport, Government of India put him on the list of approved and authorized medical practitioners for the examination of seafarers as early as 1982.
In early 1998, representatives of the UK P&I Club visited Mumbai (then Bombay) with a view to nonominate a clinic for the PEME pilot project, then titled Crew Risk Management Project (CRMP) in India. Dr Belani's Blue Shield Medical Clinic® earned the distinction of being one of only two clinics in India to be nominated, approved and selected - a clear indication of the respect commanded by the brand.
The team at Dr. Belani's Blue Shield Medical Clinic® takes pride in the fact that the American Steamship Owners Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association, Inc. - Managers for The American Club - have approved and authorized Dr. Belani's Blue Shield Medical Clinics® to conduct the PEME of seafarers nominated to their members’ vessels.
